AAR - Taylor Made Defense

ASL Pegasus Bridge 5

Played Taylor Made Defense today. fun scenario; I thought it looked tough on the brits, but we played a close game.

Setup:

The brit player setup with a 8-1+648 in M12, 149+648 in N11, w9-2+lmg+648 in O12, 248+piat in Q11, 458+piat in P12, 8-0 in P11. As the german I wanted to put pressure on the flanks, so I setup the marder in K9, two PzIV's in J8, I8, and a PzIV in K11. My (too few) infantry went in K9, K8, K12.

Play:

The first turn found my kill stack breaking the units in L12, leaving that flank open for infantry. My marder lost HE immeditatly. I placed the marder and a PzIV in M8 and O8. After the first turn I had a long line of squads from L9 through M12. His prep fire was no good. During turn 2 I lost the marder to a piat, but he broke the other piat (and x'ed it later). That was key, as I was able to swing my PzIV's around to the eastern flank after pinning his other piat. However, this game really came down to a two turn melee that developed in N11. The brit counter attacked and got into CC two and a half squads of mine with two 648's+8-1+149. In the end we both lost everything in the hex. It was a german victory, but almost my defeat as well: by the end of the game I had only one squad left. However, I lost no more tanks, and got to do a couple of overruns :)

Conclusion:

A fun scenario that plays quickly. I think it is a little tough on the brit, but not much. If the brit player had killed me in ambush during the intitial CC of the big melee it would have been game over; the germans can't stand to lose the infantry because their tanks are too vunerable without support. Fun game though with lots of important DR's.
